Do a Demi - Go Pole Dancing in London
This piece was written for WeekendNotes on the free taster sessions that the London Academy of Pole Dancing are offering.
At a recent celebrity bash in LA Demi Moore couldn't resist taking to the pole and according to party guests she even span upside down! Myley Cyrus squeezed some pole work into her performance at the Teen Choice Awards last year and Paris Hilton is well known for installing her very own pole at home! Once with a somewhat seedy reputation it's now a vital part of many celeb exercise routines and has gone mainstream.
If you fancy giving it a whirl (or a spin) then check out the London Academy of Pole Dancing's free, yes free, taster sessions every Monday and Wednesday at the Waldorf Hilton LA Fitness in Covent Garden. These classes are designed for absolute beginners and will give you an idea of whether pole dancing is for you. They are no obligation and you might find an exciting new way of keeping fit that breaks from the monotony of your regular gym routine.
"You will learn some basic pole moves including a couple of spins – you'll feel inspired and have lots of fun," says a spokesperson for the academy. "It's a stylish, sensuous dance that guarantees to provide a thorough workout. It's especially good at developing overall core and upper body strength."
To see what it's all about – and if you're up for the challenge – click here to view a gallery of pictures taken during some of the academy's lessons. By the way, upside down is level one, week four – so if you do like the taster session it won't be long before you're doing a Demi.
